Civil Engineer – Senior Project Manager – PE

Schedule: Full-Time

Location: South Jordan, UT

The position will include working with experienced professional engineers for roadways, grading, drainage, utility and site development projects for residential and commercial development, including local government and K-12 schools, higher education, community and transportation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 10-18 years’ experience Site Design related projects including preparing plans, specifications, estimates, technical memos, design calculations and other related studies
  • Professionally Licensed Civil Engineer in Utah
  • Must pass a drug test and have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be familiar with AutoCAD drafting and Civil 3D

Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with APWA engineering standards is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Google Suite & Microsoft Office
  • Be able to take direction and work independently
  • Demonstrate ability to complete tasks accurately, on-time and within budget
  • Preference given to local candidates

Transportation Project Manager

Schedule: Full-Time

Location: South Jordan, UT

Meridian Engineering is a multidisciplinary consulting firm, serving public and private clients in the Intermountain West for over 25 years. Our Transportation team is growing and we are looking for an experienced Transportation Project Engineer, with the drive and understanding to lead our Transportation projects. This is a critical role within our firm that will oversee the vision, planning, execution, and success of the Transportation Engineering Department.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with UDOT is strongly desired but will consider relevant state transportation experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in Utah
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s a plus)
  • 5 years minimum Transportation Design experience
  • 5 years minimum leadership, project management, and client relations experience
  • 2 years minimum Project Management experience, supporting transportation and traffic design projects
  • Google Suite & Microsoft Office
  • Must pass a drug test and have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

Leadership / Management Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead transportation projects from concept development through final design with the state, county, municipal agencies, and private sector
  • Supervise Transportation Design Team to provide outstanding engineering designs and construction documents
  • Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to transportation engineers and technical staff as well as principals and administrative support
  • Coordinate project tasks, budgets, and schedules, and deliver projects on time and within budget

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain close relationships with government and private sector clients to build and expand the business
  • Market new (and current) business opportunities from project development to successful delivery
  • Provide status updates and communicate effectively with clients in meetings, conference calls, and emails
  • Participate in creating proposals by offering input on opportunities, technical writing, approach, cost, and schedule

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates for engineering projects
  • Deliver quality transportation design projects on time and on budget for state and local government
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and people management experience
  • Synchronize transportation design with other functions in our business
  • Familiar with UDOT ePM software a plus

Technical & Transportation Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Traffic analysis and modeling, transportation planning, and/or traffic engineering for highways, streets, rail, and transit systems across the state
  • Street and roadway design of new corridors, intersection improvement and design, widening and corridor route studies, and more
  • Oversee the preparation of construction plans
  • Demonstrate a proven record of roadway design projects
  • Strong knowledge of MicroStation and related roadway design software
