Right-of-Way Design

Meridian’s right-of-way design team are experts in research and boundary determination along existing roadways or properties. Our ability to correlate right-of-way and ownership data with GIS to identify parcel priorities and track status allows us to deliver right-of-way design documents and maps under the most schedule-driven requirements. Over the years, Meridian has worked on some of the most complex UDOT projects in the state’s history.

Our organization defines clear reporting responsibilities across the management, administration, and technical levels of a project. Established lines of communication are key in defining assignments, making decisions, resolving issues, and providing the structure needed to support the efficient operation of our team.

We understand the importance of quality documentation and the close coordination between our client and all stakeholders, which is necessary for keeping projects moving forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is encroachment?

Encroachment is defined as the violation of the rights of another property owner. Encroachment occurs when one property owner builds or extends a feature onto a neighbor’s land or property.

What is Right-of-Way?

Right of way is the right to pass over or through real property owned by a public or private entity, usually base upon fee ownership or by easement. It is also a general term denoting land, property or interest therein acquired for or devoted to a highway.

What are Right-of-Way design services?

Right-of-Way Design is the preparation of maps, deeds, ownership records, easements, agreements, or other designated instruments needed to legally acquire land for roadway, utility or other access purposes. Meridian has the experience to support the entire right-of-way design process based on an understanding of property ownership. We have participated in the process, from gathering base data to preparing right-of-way documents, which are necessary for acquiring title to or interests in land required for the design, construction and delivery of a project. In total, this allows Meridian to produce high volumes of quality deeds, ownership records, easements, agreements, and maps.
