Lake Mountain Middle School

Summary

Lake Mountain Middle School 1058 S Old Farm Rd, Saratoga Springs, Utah, a new middle school in this rapidly growing community serving grades 7 through 9. The project involves several aspects of civil design including site development, subsurface utilities, bus drop-off and pick-up lanes, student safety design, site circulation, ingress and egress, parking lots, site lighting, site drainage, stormwater detention, mass grading for 23-acres, extension of regional 48” drain line, new public water and sewer extensions, ADA ramps and pedestrian crossings.

Because of its rural fringe location, the project included the Design of two local roads providing access to Lake Mountain Middle School. Old Farm Road was designed as a collector with a 77-foot right-of-way, which included a horizontal design, vertical design, storm drain collection system, curb, gutter, park strip, and sidewalk. Parkway Boulevard was designed as a minor arterial with a 95’ right-of-way per local city standards. A traffic impact study was conducted for all surrounding intersections. The Redwood Road and Parkway Boulevard intersection required extensive coordination with the UDOT contractor as Redwood Road was under construction. Old Farm Road required a new signal. Meridian coordinated with Alpine School District, UDOT’s construction and preconstruction teams, and the signal design consultant.
