We’re excited to share the completion of the new Utah State Developmental Center (USDC) Comprehensive Medical and Therapies Building—a state-of-the-art, sustainable facility built to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This 64,000-square-foot building consolidates a wide range of essential services under one roof, streamlining care for the 155 residents who live on campus. Operated by USDC, this facility is in American Fork at 2895 North 900 East replacing three aged buildings that were demolished.
Designed by Jacoby Architects and constructed by Layton Construction, the facility features spaces for physical, occupational, speech, and autism therapies, a medical clinic, and an ADA-compliant therapy pool. Additionally, a unique gift shop showcases handmade items created by residents, helping connect the community to their creativity.
As part of the design team, Meridian Engineering provided topographic survey and civil engineering for drainage and accessible grading plans, utility plans including water and sewer, and site hydraulic analysis along with design for on-site storm water retention basins, accessible ADA pathways within xeriscape art gardens. Construction period services and storm water pollution prevention plans were also included in the civil design scope.
