By Uncategorized

‘Here we grow again’ may seem a bit cliche’, but it’s what you do when you get great people.

Please join us as we welcome Sean!

Sean Ireland recently joined Meridian Engineering as a LiDAR and Survey Technician.  Sean has been actively involved in projects such as the passing lanes on US-6, bridges on I-80, and the 90th South roadway extraction.  His expertise includes LiDAR scanning, which involves setting up the ideal location for data scan collection. LiDAR is a measurement of distance using light pulses.

Sean has over 16 years as a survey technician all over the United States, including Chicago, Florida, and Utah. Sean has an in-depth background in surveying since he was trained by the United States Army Corp of Engineers. Sean will graduate from Utah Valley University next year with his Bachelor degree. Bringing It Together for the All-Together Playground

By Uncategorized

20160819_105248bPlaygrounds are notoriously complex, with twisted pathways, bars, bridges, and much more. What playgrounds are not, however, is accessible. If a child has mobility challenges, he or she is left out of the fun. Orem City recognizes this issue and is doing something about it.

Two of Meridian’s own, Darrell Flake and Kurt Falkenthal, have had the opportunity to volunteer some of their time and expertise to help in the construction of Orem’s new all-abilities playground. This playground is being constructed to offer all children, regardless of physical capabilities, a place to play.

“[Working on the playground] was rewarding,” said Falkenthal. “It felt good to give back to the community. It felt good to work with other people in the community.”

0819161123dbThe playground is being constructed with a substantial volunteer effort as well as with many donated materials. Meridian Engineering, Inc. donated the use of survey equipment and vehicles to help in facilitating the work.

“We are very community-oriented,” said Meridian Engineering’s President, Darryl Fenn. “We’re a local firm comprised of local people. We enjoy volunteering to help the community.”

The All-Together Playground is set to be completed in September 2016. Click on the link below for more information.
