Bridge in Rockville

Summary

The Rockville Bridge spans the east fork of the Virgin River in southern Utah and is a historic structure that has provided crossings for over 90 years. Over time the bridge deteriorated due to wear and tear. To ensure the safety of those who use the bridge, renovation and repairs were necessary. While working with Lochner, Meridian provided LiDAR technology to measure the distances and create a 3D representation of the surface providing valuable data of its current structural condition for the design team to improve its integrity for continued use. Through structural design and rehabilitation efforts, Lochner improved the bridge’s load rating to 25 tons to meet the needs of the citizens. The project required extensive coordination with the Town of Rockville as well as the State Historic Preservation Office.
