Draper Recreation Center

Summary

Summary: This new 60,000 square foot center is located at 657 Vestry Road on a new site. The final facility built by Layton Construction, serves a community of approximately 48,000 residents. The need for a new recreation center in the area was initially identified during the Salt Lake County Facilities Master Plan process in 2005 and again in 2015. Funding for the project was been made possible thanks to the 2016 ZAP 3 Parks & Recreation Bond, Draper City, and Canyons School District. It is connected to the Draper outdoor pool, and the facilities amenities include two indoor pools, field house for multiple sports, fitness/weight lifting area, party room, drop in child care space and lastly, a grassy knoll with a grand view of the Salt Lake valley.

The civil site work by Meridian included drainage and accessible grading plans, utility plans including water and sewer, and site hydraulic analysis and design for several on-site storm water retention basins. Construction period services and storm water pollution prevention plans were also included in the civil design scope.

Special Project Consideration: LEED Gold Project – including parking lot, dry creeks, site walls, plaza and site trails.
