Little Cottonwood Canyon EIS

Summary

Meridian provided surveying, mapping, right of way design and easements throughout the entirety of Little Cottonwood Canyon from the mouth of the canyon to the town of Alta including the bypass road between Snowbird and Alta. Our deliverables included Base Mapping of existing pavement and boundary evidence to develop ROW Plan Sheets that were certified for UDOT’s inventory system and can be used for future ROW design reference. Project management included heavy coordination with US Forest Service (USFS), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Town of Alta and UDOT. Right of Way plans and Perfected Easements were developed and approved by the Department and the USFS and coordinated through FHWA. The project was finalized by filing a record of survey with the Salt Lake County Surveyor depicting the right of way throughout the Canyon.

The purpose of this predesign work is a small part of an EIS study for UDOT’s  to deliver transportation options that meet the needs of the community while preserving the value of the Wasatch Mountains especially during seasonal traffic congestion intervals.
